Lock Up Your Daughters

Feature by Kirsty Logan | 02 Feb 2010

If you're a superhot, supercool punk-dyke, you'll already be familiar with Lock Up Your Daughters zine. If not, consider yourself informed. LUYD is a response to the boring, self-loathing quarrelling found in so much of queer culture.

We don't care about defining ourselves; we just want to make shit and dance like crazy. As the LUYD ladies say, "Wanting to have some fun does not make you a traitor". Previous issues of the zine included queer zombie music, sexy drag kings, bearlesque (that's large hairy men rocking the burlesque), and interviews with bands, artists, and spoken word performers. And, of course, Mr Yoshimitsu's Lesbian Piss Emporium.

Issue #4 is out now, and features shiny nuggets from editors Sophie and Lucy's recent USA adventures: Homo A GoGo festival, transgender musicians, and legendary comic artist Alison Bechdel.
