Michael Lohan "will not release" another tape

Lindsay Lohan's father will not release any more recordings about her.

Michael Lohan has made public several tapes of private conversations featuring the 23-year-old actress and her mother Dina Lohan. In them, Lindsay was heard crying and ranting that no-one loved her, while Dina discussed her fears for Lindsay. She revealed her daughter had resorted to self-harm, and said she was in a secret relationship with Heath Ledger when he died in 2008.

Michael insisted he was doing it in an attempt to force Lindsay to face up to her alleged prescription medication addiction, but has now vowed to stop.

"I will not release another audiotape about Lindsay," he told Life and Style Weekly magazine. "I did it because I wanted Lindsay to know how I felt when I heard that tape. When I get a phone call at 2, 3, 4 or 5 in the morning from my daughter and she's in dire straits, I get very concerned."

Lindsay blasted Michael for releasing the recordings, said to date from 2008, saying she no longer viewed him as her father. She also spoke to her lawyer about getting a restraining order against him. Dina was also furious at her ex-husband's actions, saying: "The tapes were from a long time ago. For a father to stoop this low is unforgivable."

Both Lindsay and her mother discussed the legal implications of the tapes with lawyers, as neither knew they were being recorded when they spoke to Michael.

Meanwhile, Lindsay former best friend Courtenay Semel has spoken out about the actress. She claims Lindsay is a bad role model, but feels sorry for the way her life is played out in public.

Courteney, who completed a stint in rehab earlier this year, told Curve magazine: "I always said you'll never see me falling drunk out of a club, you'll never see me get arrested, you'll never see that side of me and unfortunately, it did happen. I did take responsibility for my actions. But, at the same time, I think, you know, everyone scrutinises, Lindsay for everything she went through, but they should thank her, because it shows you exactly what not to do."
