As unlikely as it sounds, the biggest fan of contemporary Scottish music may well be a German. Hamburg-based Markus Wilhelms named his record label after a Fire Engines album and now releases 7" singles by aspiring Scottish artists, this being the latest. For their debut release Glasgow's Kingfishers cover Vic Godard's Make Me Sad (***) to sweetly harmonious, girl-sung effect. On the other side of this fine-looking piece of vinyl Wake The President betray their love of all things Postcard with You Can't Change That Boy (****), another impeccably stylish taster of a band on the up.
