The Vincent Black Shadow - Fears In The Water

A swing and a miss

Single Review by Neil Ferguson | 07 Nov 2007
Single title: Fears In The Water
Artist: The Vincent Black Shadow
Label: Bodog
The first 30 seconds of The Vincent Black Shadow's debut single Fears In The Water are positive enough. An angrier DEVO, as sung by Gwen Stefani, anybody? Sadly, those 30 seconds are as good as it gets and don't last nearly long enough. Thereafter, everything regresses into the cabaret and innuendo of girl-fronted nu-metal, reminiscent of a synth-heavy Otep or, heaven forbid, an Evanescence with a little less goth. It wants to be sexy; like another Blondie, or even the next Garbage, but this display is far too much of a swing and a miss to even come close.
Release Date: 29 Oct.

The Vincent Black Shadow play King Tut's, Glasgow on 28 Nov and Moshulu, Aberdeen on 29 Nov. http://www.myspace.com/tvbs
