Single title: To Be Someone
Artist: The Sonic Hearts
Label: EMI
Do you remember the moment in your life when listening to Supergrass suddenly stopped being fun? The moment they grew beards and started making tunes that your mum and dad were into? That's what the Sonic Hearts sound like. Connoisseurs of vacuous pedestrian pop rock will be delighted that they'll soon have another album to put on the coffee table. On this offering, trite lyrics about nothing in particular are sung a tad too earnestly over dreary chords, tedious hooks and plodding piano. How many synonyms of boring can you fit into one review? One for Snow Patrol fans only. [Pete Ballantine]
