The Lights - The Fair Weather Travelling Companion

It’s difficult not to be slightly worried for the safety of Birmingham quintet The Lights. They are slap bang in the middle of the road with latest EP, The Fair Weather Travelling Companion, and it seems this is where they plan to stay parked, keys out the ignition. They should probably have their hazard lights on too. Their poke at epic is oh-so-very tame, the only gumption on show being vocalist Lizzy Keys’ contribution. There are at least a couple of wearisome moments, aside from the guitar solo on The Leaving Song where technical slips are clear as day. If they don’t look alive, I fear road kill. [Emma Smith]
