The Kills – Tape Song

Single Review by Neil Walker | 25 Nov 2008
Single title: Tape Song
Artist: The Kills
Label: Domino
Release date: 24 Nov

It's true, The Kills still tick all the right boxes to be labelled the cool kids on the circuit. Rudimentary rock n roll with lipstick suave, lyrics laced with cherry flavour arsenic and a vocal style that winks cheekily at the eighties. This track from their third album Midnight Boom continues to tick the right boxes. The grimy catwalk stride groove struts into an infectious chorus that will be sung into hairbrushes up and down the country while girls liberally apply mascara and head out to their nearest indie club. Cool, sexy and catchy but as with all other music of this genre – disposable when it expires.
