The Cribs - I'm A Realist

This latest single from Wakefield's finest finds the band taking stock, having for the moment hit the ceiling in terms of their appeal. The call and response vocals are married nicely with the twang of guitars and the chorus is snappy enough to make up for the lack of energy. There are some surprises too, with the bridge using a Weezer-like progression before skipping back into the main riff. This is laid back fare, nothing groundbreaking, nothing offensive, but sure to enamour those already enraptured with these cool-list perennials. [Neal Parsons]
