The Apple Scruffs - Big Hearts

Even bigger choruses

Single Review by Ryan Drever | 04 Nov 2008
Single title: Big Hearts
Artist: The Apple Scruffs
Label: White Noise Glasgow
Release date: Out Now

If you took any Scottish indie band subscribing to the recent trend in 'tell it like it is' lyricism - complete with prominent accent - and drenched their sound in reverb along with every other production trick in the book to make it sound utterly huge, then Big Hearts would no doubt be the result. Although the comparisons to Glasvegas seem almost inevitable, The Apple Scruffs have managed to create a standalone, anthemic pop song with rousing choruses - complete with 'oo-oo-oo-ooh's - surely destined for drunken festival singalongs.
