Scouting for Girls - Elvis Ain't Dead

Strictly for fans of banal cutesy pop.

Single Review by Graeme Blaikie | 07 Dec 2007
Single title: Elvis Ain't Dead
Artist: Scouting for Girls
Label: Epic

Making a bid for this year's Christmas number one with their surprisingly unfestive-sounding third single, Scouting for Girls might be unashamedly nostalgic but they are also offensively insipid. If you can switch off to the song's sickly sweet lyrics, which are so simplistic they sound like they were written in the school playground, and the irritatingly jaunty piano intro that sounds like the theme to some kids' TV show, there might be something to enjoy here. Elvis Ain't Dead is undoubtedly catchy, but that doesn't make it okay. Strictly for fans of banal cutesy pop. [Graeme Blaikie]
