O Fracas - Factfinding / And So a Scratch Runs Down a Wall

A solid effort overall, hinting at the possibility of mainstream appeal to come.

A staccato little number, Factfinding manages to avoid aping too many of its very English contemporaries. The central vocal line betrays O Fracas' pop sensibilities but the musicianship is daring enough to keep the instruments bubbling away underneath. The double A-side, And So a Scratch Runs Down a Wall, is slightly more direct yet built upon a resolute tune and mindful enough of brevity so as to remain interesting. A mixture of acoustic and electric guitars, infused with subtle hints of keyboard, works to good effect on both tracks and it's a solid effort overall, hinting at the possibility of mainstream appeal to come.
