Nick Harrison - Something Special

Shamelessly aping the most overly-exposed indie pop of the day

Using the word “dancefloor” in a song does not guarantee a hit. However, shamelessly aping the most overly-exposed indie pop of the day does tend to help. Harrison has apparently spent some time swabbing the toilet seats of expensive hotels and stealing hairs from combs, harvesting the DNA of bands like The Kooks, The View and The Automatic. Dancey drums, spanky guitar and a cockney accent. What more could you possibly need to soundtrack a quiet night in chewing tinfoil and dragging paper edges across your naked eyeballs? Sadly, NME will doubtlessly lap it up like salty man-muck from the clammy hand of some heavy-breathing pop-svengali. [Chris Cusack]
