Millimetre – Missing Haitch

Single Review by Karen Taggart | 09 Jun 2008
Single title: Missing Haitch
Artist: Millimetre
Label: Orectic Records
Release date: 9 Jun

Missing Haitch is the first single from Millimetre’s third album Heliography, released in July. The brainchild of Irish singer-songwriter Terence J McGaughney, Millimetre’s sound is very Depeche Mode: clunky, heavy bass lines and solemn vocals. Influenced by the various sounds around him, which include the white noise of cities, wind, rain and the background noise of cars, this electro-guitar experiment certainly offers something original. However, the riffs and drums get repetitive after a while, as does the faint eighties vibe. Like a darker, heavier Massive Attack, this is for those who like their beats thumping, with a rocky edge.[Karen Taggart]
