Calling for Love, the lead single from Madam's forthcoming debut, In Case of Emergency, is three minutes of darkly plodding beauty. Madam channels Bonnie "Prince" Billy as she juxtaposes sinister lo-fi electric guitar swirls with her stirringly weary vocals. The track rumbles along, threatening to explode, though it never does; that would be unnecessary. The potential for a violent climax and the lack of release manages to instil infinitely more anger and frustration in the track than three minutes of screaming from a lesser artist would.
