Lupe Fiasco - Paris, Tokyo

If you like your hip-hop lazy, feel good and unashamedly commercial, this’ll be right up your street

Single title: Paris, Tokyo
Artist: Lupe Fiasco
Label: Atlantic Records
Release date: 12 Apr 08

Wasalu Muhammad Jaco aka Lupe Fiasco is a bonafide hip-hop superstar. Hailed by Jay-Z as a "breath of fresh air" in a stagnating scene, Lupe has given formula hip-hop a body swerve, much in the same way as your man Kanye West. He casually mixes commercial beats with urban cool, getting away with it in the same charmful way as Pharrell and Co. This is the second single, taken from Lupe’s second studio album The Cool, released last December. Produced by Soundtrakk; Paris, Tokyo’s an uber suave and polished summertime cut, taking stock of love, life and the jet set. If you like your hip-hop lazy, feel good and unashamedly commercial, this’ll be right up your street. [Steve Glencross]
