Land of Talk - Speak to Me Bones

A lot of fuss over nothing.

Single Review by Chris Cusack | 06 Mar 2008
Single title: Speak to Me Bones
Artist: Land of Talk
Label: One Little Indian

Well this kind of rocks. Brash guitars show up early and energetic female vocals are to the fore. It also manages to whip along at a decent pace, suggesting the drummer probably broke a sweat. Somehow, though, it all seems like a lot of fuss over nothing. The underlying song doesn't really go anywhere interesting or manage to stimulate other than by raucous volume and, as such, is really pretty forgettable. Mellower live B-side, It's Okay, manages to both outshine its counterpart and succinctly sum up the entire experience in its title. [Chris Cusack]
