Guru Jazzmatazz - Jazzy Wayz

Single Review by Karen Taggart | 14 Apr 2008
Single title: Jazzy Wayz
Artist: Guru Jazzmatazz
Label: Rapster
Release date: 14 Apr

The new single from Guru Jazzmatazz, Jazzy Wayz, is a sample-laden hip-hop track trying to take on a soulful vibe, but not quite cutting it. In short, this is bland, uninteresting, and as far from innovative as possible. While singing about “spitting on the mic, mixing the jazz and the hip hop” the Guru simply comes across as unimaginative and boring. For one that was hoping for a smooth, jazz-inspired track, this reviewer was left very disappointed. The flipside, Too Slick, is by far the superior track, featuring fast, funky beats and vocals from Yungun. That doesn’t make up for the quite frankly dull single, which is best avoided by all.
