Good Shoes - Small Town Girl

Frightfully catchy and who can resist hand claps?

Catchy indie pop outfit Good Shoes sound like plenty of other bands. When your musical genealogy makes a straight line from The Kinks to The Jam to The Libertines some damn good songwriting is going to be necessary if you want to stand out. Small Town Girl charts a vague chronicle of a girl who attended Raynes Park High school and makes it in Hollywood (the press release slyly suggests that said girl is Keira Knightley). Good Shoes are going to have to do better than a chorus of "money honey, darling / Just can't buy me everything / And I say everything's okay / Everything's alright." Still, this song is frightfully catchy; and who can resist hand claps? [Tobias Kahn]
