Findo Gask - One Eight Zero

Single Review by Euan Ferguson | 03 Dec 2008
Single title: One Eight Zero
Artist: Findo Gask
Label: Angular Recording Corporation
Release date: 8 Dec

Findo Gask soar forth with a follow-up single to the acclaimed Va Va Va just in time for Christmas: apt, because it sounds like Aled Jones running downstairs and finding a Casio under the tree (a keyboard, not a calculator). It’s a glorious, sparkly, twisty pop treasure, helped along by stuttering drums and Nintendo synths. Gerard Black’s extraordinary voice dances over it all like a choir of sine waves, and here and there a crowd of kids cheer excitedly in the background. It really is as strange as it sounds, but out of the calculated chaos rises another quite beautiful song. [Euan Ferguson]

Findo Gask play Pins & Needles @ Sneaky Petes, Edinburgh on 6 Dec and Captain's Rest, Glasgow on 7 Dec (single launch)
