Bashy’s another one of the rapid Grime crew from London’s urban scene, receiving a bit of positive exposure at present after being involved in the score for Noel Clarke’s Adulthood flick starring Danny Dyer. Kidulthood’s typically busy sounding stuff, with the lyrics painting a predictable and somewhat stereotypical picture of inner-city revenge and struggle. The structure ties in classic grime vibes and a static arpeggiator synth groove; it’s sure to be a hit on the UK Grime circuit with its profile and considerably slick production, but it’s nothing new, which is what’s required right now if you want stand out from the pack. This it ain’t no Wiley by any stretch of the imagination. [Steve Glencross]
