Scars on Broadway - World Long Gone

In the hope of establishing themselves outwith the huge success of parent band System of a Down, Daron Malakian and John Dolmayan present their new project - Scars On Broadway - to the world with the sonic statement of intent that is World Long Gone. Firing right in - no messin’ about - its simplistic, stabbing staccato rhythm is perhaps even hooky enough to rival their old band's biggest hit, Chop Suey. Momentum however wanes slightly, with the inclusion of some dodgy, echoing, rapped backing-vocals. Malakian's repetition of himself only makes him sound slightly senile. It's a fair effort, but they've been here already. [Emma Smith]
