Last Man Down - Killing Time

Around two years ago this single would’ve had the producers at Radio 1 tearing up their playlists to have it blasting out every hour, but this energetic indie number does nothing to embellish on the sound of those they're so clearly trying to emulate. With the punchy, jaunty working-class attitude of The Enemy and a chorus like a particularly anaemic Finch song there’s bits to like in Killing Time, but it’s music written on tracing paper and produced with no conviction. A rocky Sugababes cover on the b-side could lead to sales that impress record execs, but they would mask some serious shortcomings. (Jamie Borthwick)
