Primal Scream -Can't Go Back

3/5 stars
Single review by Jason Morton.

Returning to the studio after 2006’s straight-forward rock ‘n’ roll disc Riot City Blues, veterans Primal Scream have made a departure from the aesthetic of that record, judging by lead single Can’t Go Back. Kicking in with a relentless metronomic beat and soon joined by a dominating keyboard riff, this cut sees the band honing a more mainstream pop sound. With the track title used as a hook, Primal Scream have crafted a solid, competent pop-rock track, amping up the curiosity of what else the band’s Beautiful Future might hold in store.
