Headhunter - Initiate EP

3/5 stars
It’s a solid offering adding more weight to the Tempa name and indeed helping to establish a name that’s maybe not the most prolific or talked about producer on the block

Dubstep label Tempa appear to do no wrong at the moment, with their name fast becoming a recognised stamp of quality in the scene. This latest release comes up trumps again, with a kick ass new double pack from Headhunter. The tracks are considerably varied in style, with the first slab offering the 4x4 tech cut Locus Lotus, a dance floor banger a la Skream, joined by the sub bass stepper Drop the Waste, a quality piece of low-end trickery. The second bit of plastic doesn’t scrimp either, with the hypnotic wobble of Sushi Brain hogging a side, followed by the two most laidback tracks on the project, a 4x4 techy bass groove and a piece of broken atmospheric club dub. It’s a solid offering adding more weight to the Tempa name and indeed helping to establish a name that’s maybe not the most prolific or talked about producer on the block.
