Deepchord presents - Echospace The Coldest Season pt 1

A key player in the Basic Channel/Berlin scene, and founder of the eponymous record label, Deepchord needs no introduction. This sticks too closely to the Basic Channel formula though, with a-side First Point of Aries aping Monolake's Chain Reaction classic, Cyan, with watery reverb and shimmering snares giving way to a thumping, club beat. Celestialis sounds like the offcuts of a Fluxion album, embellishing that same kick with delicate, abstract echoes. As compelling and powerful as any of his other work, it's an excellent 12", but the classic style is overly familiar. [Liam Arnold]
