Peaches - Boys Wanna Be Her

2/5 stars
a hard-hitting, repetitive drone

Characteristic of Peaches' most popular tracks, 'Boys Wanna Be Her' embraces a certain amount of gender-bending but is less electro-erotic than much of her catalogue. Remarkably, the track deviates in that it plays as a riff-heavy, hair metal anthem and maintains itself in a hard-hitting, repetitive drone. Whilst it may satisfy those after a rap-infused rock track, it disappoints in its monotony and vapid lyrics. In straying from her typical repertoire of sexually charged, shock-rock electronica, 'Boys Wanna Be Her' resounds as a jumble of irrelevant one-liners (almost as if trying to mimic the more substantial wailings of Karen O) and well-worn bass lines.
