King Creosote & Jon Hopkins – Honest Words EP

Single Review by PJ Meiklem | 31 Aug 2011
Single title: Honest Words EP
Artist: King Creosote & Jon Hopkins
Label: Domino
Release date: 19 Sep

Honest Words is the apt yet playful title for the King Creosote and Jon Hopkins EP which follows the critically lauded, and Mercury Music Prize nominated, Diamond Mine. It’s the reworked highlight from that record – Bats In The Attic – that steals the show, the remix taking what is already a poetic and affecting piece of music and nudging it into the stratosphere of Kenny Anderson’s best work, and all with a simple tripped-out beat and a warm chorus of harmonies. The title track itself and Aurora Boring Alias don’t quite reach such peaks, although they still succeed in taking the understated, old but newly born vibe of the album into imaginative places.
