To Rococo Rot - Forwardness Fridays EP

 

The EP is an awkward conception, defined by what it's not: too long to be a single, too short to be an album. Even within this limited bracket, though, they can range from three-track B-side oddities to fully-fledged mini-albums. But Berlin trio To Rococo Rot are pushing it when they brand Forwardness Fridays an EP, consisting as it does of four tracks - the original version of Forwardness, from their forthcoming album Speculation, along with its remix version and two other remixes of Fridays (although one is a 'radio edit' of the other). While the original version of Forwardness is a good example of their light krautrock style, the three remixes on this single-masquerading-as-an-EP fail to enhance the template. [Nick Mitchell]
