The Paradox - The Poet versus The Town Crier EP

Commendably tries something different, but the meticulous west coast annunciation could be a paradox too far

Single title: The Poet versus The Town Crier EP
Artist: The Paradox
Label: Self Released
Lest a billing of hip-hop blended with heavy metal has you baulking and reaching for the skip button before you can say Linkin Park, it could be worth seeing if this paradoxical universe is worth another look. This kilted revisit to the long deceased nu-metal world brings some blacker than black guitar to the table and Yin and Yang is particularly mosh-able. Some listeners may struggle with the thick Scots accent to the vocals, however the rapping is technically excellent and Brian Jamieson has landed himself some reputable support slots on the back of it. This EP commendably tries something different, but the meticulous west coast annunciation could be a paradox too far. [Jamie Borthwick]
