Taz Buckfaster – Gold Tooth Grin EP

Transposing the softest purple of Bristol's future dubstep onto the increasingly familiar deep hue of Glasgow's labels is something tactfully reasoned with throughout the new release from Numbers mercenary Taz.

After showing that he's been furthering his harmonic and not demonic side with this soulful grind, he's turned that same hand to the subsequent track with much fervour and let the leading saw of Robogrime interject with lurching snare to create a ruthless up-tempo bounce, complete with terse choruses of blips to compliment its digital aesthetic.

Finally, a 'Dooms Night' bass comes on the attack to punctuate the break laden rhythm of Strike First, a track that's seen a palatable remix from his compatriot Hudson Mohawke. [Craig Massie]
