Playful hits of pop sunshine straight outta' Fife

What do The Kooks, The La's and The Beatles all have in common? The answer: Sergeant sound like all of them! Taking heavy vocal influence from the first two and the pop sensibility of all three, this new ep - a precursor to the bands eagerly awaited debut album - isn't exactly mind-blowing in terms of originality. That being said, that doesn't mean its terrible either. From aptly-titled opener, Sunshine, to the final strums of Tonight, these ten minutes are every bit as playful as the title would suggest and enough to put you in a good mood for as long as it's lodged in your brain, which quite possibly could be forever! The only real flaw then, is the inescapable and obvious similarity to so many other bands (plus the weirdest Fife accent ever). Still, with heavy praise from critics across the land, this will no doubt be huge. [Ryan Drever]
