Lapalux – Some Other Time EP

One of Brainfeeder's UK signings, Essex-born Lapalux has released on Pictures Music, and produced a self-released EP in 2011. He has also completed high-profile remixes for the likes of Bonobo. He's a perfect fit for the new beat aesthetic being carved out by Brainfeeder, with an organic texture and skittering time-signatures in his intricate, lushly-produced tracks.

Quartz is a slow dub pulse ornamented with chiming percussion and delicious tape hiss, while the stuttering broken beat of Jaw Jackin' features a beautiful chopped and filtered vocal. The EP's standout track is Forgetting and Learning Again, with Kerry Leatham providing a beatifically hungover vocal that sits somewhere between Speech Debelle and Kate Tempest, over space-age synths and minimal drums.
