Father Murphy – No Room For The Weak EP

Single title: No Room For The Weak EP
Artist: Father Murphy
Label: Aagoo
Release date: 4 Oct

Italian trio Father Murphy follow their …And He Turned To The Sun album with three new songs and a cover of Leonard Cohen’s There Is A War. If you have a mind that wanders then this EP probably isn’t for you with opener We Now Pray With Two Hands, We Now Pray With True Anger clocking in at an unwieldy 9 minutes comprised largely of indistinguishable chants, drone-like guitars and various avant-garde clatter, so far so good in this writer's book.

The psychedelia continues in deathlike fashion through Until The Path Is No Longer, and You Got Worry. To top it off the Cohen cover is a further slice of blackened drone rock, barely recognisable, sitting somewhere between Grails and Lift To Experience. Dancefloor clearer = stoned-rock pleaser.
