Dogshite - Dogshite EP

Single Review by Martin Skivington | 06 Dec 2010
Single title: Dogshite EP
Artist: Dogshite
Label: Beetroot
Release date: 6 Dec

London's Dogshite are a rambunctious outfit whose music hails back to the DIY ethics of punk's golden age, and who could easily have been transported in time from the late '70s without anyone batting an eyelid. This self-titled debut, which comes on limited 10" from eclectic indie label Beetroot, puts three of their best cuts to the test.

The standout is You Can't Control My Freedom, a mix of scuzzy guitar and politicised vocals, sounding like a deranged face-off between Crass and The Slits. Thingymijig meanwhile is a comical three-chord ditty about meeting someone and not being able to remember their name ('was it Barry, Larry, Harry or Gary?'). Not entirely original, but I suspect they couldn't give a monkey's. [Martin Skivington]
