Album title: Karen P ...Broadcasting

Karen P was once an apprentice of Gilles Peterson, and her style has marked similarities, but does not reach quite as far around the globe. Having said that, the opening track, Pikku Myyn Laulu by Moomin Voices, is an experimental Finnish song with jazzy oohs and aahs. The music of …Broadcasting is quite varied, but mostly sticks to a fairly off-beat form of electro-acoustic indie. Robots by Woon has a good acoustic guitar line, soft drums and gentle, soulful singing. There is a foray into light funk – Sunshine Star by Open Sky Unit is an unusual piece of old school soul, and Scrabble by Rene Costy and his Orchestra is enjoyably laid-back instrumental funk. The tracks blend well on the album, but generally it’s a bit too light and airy. There's few really good songs, nothing that will make you move, and all in all it's a bit odd.
