How much house can you handle? If a four-to-the-floor kick drum is not your thing, stop reading now. Otherwise, I’m Starting To Fell OK Vol. 3 may be just up your street. Compiled by Toshiya Kawasaki, and effortlessly mixed by KZA (Force of Nature), this is a sampler of Mule Musiq’s finest, and has offerings from all corners of the Earth. Japanese newcomer Kuniyuki presents a funktastic mix of tribal sounds and glitchy beats on Dear African Sky, whilst Mr Raoul K offers Wind of Goree, a sumptuous slice of African deep house. Whilst even the less remarkable moments on the record are undeniably danceable, Soft Rocks’ Essra Ist wins out on sheer originality; a sexy jazz big band is married to a pummelling beat, making it sound like the soundtrack to a ghetto version of Quincy, M.E. Mule Musiq have provided the perfect Rough Guide to 2009 house, grab a copy and get down.
