Toolroom Records continue to showcase their sound with another double mix-CD instalment from two of the label's artists - Tom Novy and Wally Lopez. Novy should need little introduction thanks to his massive chart hit, Your Body. Here he offers a selection of what has become the near ubiquitous sound of commercial clubland - electro-house. Featuring few stand out tracks (there seems to be some sort of ‘electro-house’ template: each track seems to hold the same pulsing effect and bassline), Novy also shows a disconcerting love of cheesy vocals though his instrumental version of Ono’s No No No. Wally Lopez’s offering continues the electro-house theme occasionally leaning towards minimal, as he serves up a slightly more interesting selection with Booka Shade’s re-rub of Dave Gahan’s Kingdom, Remind by Riva & Bias and Dubfire’s Emissions highlights. However, overall the two CDs offer few particularly praise-worthy moments.
