Artist: Tragedy: All Metal Tribute to the Bee Gees

Release date: 10 Nov

Their singer is called Barry Glibb. That's one star. Awesome album title, there's another. They perform ridiculous yet tremendously well-arranged, righteous and true metal covers of Bee Gees songs. Third star for sheer audacity. A forthcoming tour with The Wildhearts shows that this New York octet is turning heads, and given the outlandish premise, that's another star for triumph in the face of adversity. In light of the excellent recording quality and the songs that impress and amuse in equal measure, a five star rating would seem inevitable.
Then comes the reality check: it's daft. These guys are obviously having a lot of fun and it seems a shame to point out that its all pretty bloody stupid - a joke that spiralled out of control and at some point became a “viable” musical entity in its own right. So it's a 3 star compromise. [Chris Cusack]

Tragedy: All Metal Tribute to the Bee Gees play King Tut's, Glasgow on 4 Dec.
