It looks like America's latest East coast export are set to take the UK by storm – their lead single Hey Now Now has already been scooped up by Pepsi Max for a commercial that hit our screens in August. Cloud Room is an immensely likeable album packed with upbeat catchy tunes and a lead singer with a voice like velvet. The influence David Bowie has had on them is highly audible. The band demonstrate a strong indie-pop sensibility, incorporating inspired synthesizer experimentation. The Hunger is simply stunning and We Sleep in the Ocean is another blinder, with harmonious backing vocals that evoke the Velvet Underground. It is pop at its unselfconscious best and should without doubt be at the forefront of its genre. Its only weakness is that this album is seldom demanding/challenging to its listener and thus may be soon tired of. However, with that said it is still undeniably enjoyable recommended.
