Secretsundaze Presents - Tobi Neumann

Album Review by Colin Chapman | 03 Jul 2008
Album title: secretsundaze presents...
Artist: Tobi Neumann
Label: Secret
Release date: 7 Jul

After the success of their Secretsundaze Volume 1 compilation, residents Giles Smith and James Priestley have recruited German producer Tobi Neumann for their second outing. A long-standing associate of Sven Vath’s Cocoon label and agency, Neumann has graced such events and clubs as Love Parade, Timewarp Festival, Panorama Bar, Weekend in Berlin and London’s Fabric. He has established his studio credentials with remix and engineering credits for Miss Kitten, Chicks On Speed and Ricardo Villalobos, and his impressive sets at Secretsundaze made him an easy choice to record the follow-up to Giles and James's accomplished efforts. Avoiding obvious artists and tracks, Tobi’s selection gives a taster of the kind of house that’s favoured at this London open-air party, now in its seventh season. From the summery shuffle of Osunlade’s 'My Reflection', through the deepness of Sascha Dive and Move D, to Kerri Chandler’s anthem-in-waiting 'Pong', the swing of Stimming & Hosh, and beyond, the subtle musical nuances make this disc the perfect slow-burner for after-hours.
