Say - Multiverse

Album Review by Euan Ferguson | 11 Feb 2009
Album title: Multiverse
Artist: Say
Label: Aufgeladen Und Bereit
Release date: 23 Feb

The multiverse is a hypothetical set of alternative realities in which infinite versions of the same event are played out. The theory behind it says that when something happens in this life, all other multiple possibilities will happen simultaneously in parallel. Which is a roundabout way of saying that in a completely different universe, at the other end of the fabric of reality, somebody might listen to this album and think it was a good idea. In this boring old plane of existence, it simply sounds like a group of hippies bizarrely using Merseybeat instead of psy-trance to foist their outdated and comically improbable ideas on to an uncaring public. In 2009, we don’t need anyone telling us that “cosmic energy… is infinitely available to all. It will put an end to poverty, starvation and pollution.” If you believe in the third eye but hate third runways, this one’s for you. [Euan Ferguson]
