Album title: Music Without Fear Of Reprimand
Artist: Rodent Emporium
Label: Void Avoidance
Release date: Out Now

The debut album from Rodent Emporium flings a fistful of bizarre comedy punk ‘n' roll at anyone who'll stand still long enough; you may want to think carefully before allowing that person to be you. With the occasional ska beat and death metal howl, this is an odd mix of sounds. Fan favourite Bob Sweet's Wishful Thinking exemplifies the downright peculiar topics covered in the songs: had you ever wondered if you could be "a fish on a dish (you wish)"? Or how difficult it would be to play badminton with a rugby ball? No, neither had we. With a complete lack of pretensions and a wish only to entertain - which they undoubtedly do - Rodent Emporium will likely upset many an indie muso. As much as that's an aim to be respected in the stick-up-your-jacksie music culture we live in, this release is just downright silly. The correct mood is a definite prerequisite for listening - it's not one to be popped on the stereo while idly sipping on a glass of Merlot, let's put it that way. [Lauren Mayberry]
