Restlesslist are the side project of indie-pop act Electric Soft Parade’s Matthew Twaites and Tom White, joined by Ben Elliot. Aiming to bring in their abilities as masters of soulful twee pop to the world of electronica, this effort falls slightly flat. The release is a solely instrumental affair which lacks any stand-out moments to merit proper attention. Although everything seems to be meticulously constructed and carefully crafted, it lacks a notable sense of passion or vibrancy to truly animate it. The beats are stale, the samples are clichéd and overall, it’s too obvious this is a vanity project. It’s pleasant enough as hazy background music on a Sunday morning with the odd memorable riff or foot-tapping rhythm, but there’s nothing to grab anyone’s attention. They’d be better sticking to their day jobs.
