Does the world really need another electro-pop outfit from London cluttering up MySpace and being overplayed on Skins? Well, one more can’t hurt. Comparisons with the likes of Foals are not so wide of the mark, even if The Greats and the Happenings shows that Post War Years lack that bit of aggression that their contemporaries possess. The album is the proverbial grower, however, and yields further rewards with each listen.

Opener The Red Room is a prickly electronic trip, while single Whole World On Its Head is a touch poppier - certainly catchy enough to get the feet tapping. It’s False Starts, however, that is the album highlight, blending a fairly infectious mix of electonica and indie while incorporating a brass section into the chorus more akin to The Jam at the peak of their powers. Although tracks such as Ghost Door feel almost unnecessary, there is enough quality here to suggest that PWY could be more than just another quirky outfit armed with synthesizers and a drum machine.
