Orson - Bright Idea Album

Even their haircuts have probably been designed to sell the most posters to go on pink bedroom walls

Album Review by Dorian Williams | 16 May 2006
Album title: Bright Idea
Artist: Orson
Label: Mercury

First single No Tomorrow has been getting extensive airplay and really isn't that bad. It's catchy, has a nice sing-a-long chorus and guitar hooks in all the right places. Every song on this album is a potential single as it's all so catchy and non-offensive, like show tunes and other cheery guitar pop that's been done a million times before. Alas this album will do well as guitar music is more popular than ever and it hits all the right musical markers to get the teenage girls buying it in droves. Even their haircuts have probably been designed to sell the most posters to go on pink bedroom walls. There is nothing new here and the fact that this unadverturous band was named after film icon Orson Welles is offensive in the extreme. 'Bright Idea', are you sure? [Dorian Williams]
