New Albums This Week: Cate Le Bon, John Carpenter
Our round-up of the best new music released this week, including a new record from Cate Le Bon and a second album from master of horror John Carpenter
Cate Le Bon – Crab Day (Turnstile)
Le Bon's fourth album is a madcap wonder. If its singular aesthetic is ultimately less an advancement of the vision shown on previous outing Mug Museum and more a honing of the craft, its offbeat artistry is way beyond the everyday humdrum.

John Carpenter – Lost Themes II (Sacred Bones)
Carpenter's second album is in every way and equal counterpart to his superb surprise debut of last year. The director's unashamedly 80s aesthetic – which hallmarked the first Lost Themes – is pleasingly and emphatically recurrent on the second.

The Coathangers – Nosebleed Weekend (Suicide Squeeze)
We've somehow reached a decade since the Atlanta noisemongers first appeared, and their latest album sees The Coathangers go for the gut and mostly hit it dead-on.
