Märtini Brös – The MB Factor

It’s like Kraftwerk if they took pills instead of lounging around reading about robotics

Album title: The MB Factor
Artist: Mätini Brös
Label: Poker Flat
Release date: 11 Aug

With the resurgent interest in Steve Bug’s classic Raw Elements imprint, it’s appropriate that the Märtini Brös should see fit to drop a new mix/original album. In the ten years since their first release, Clé and Mike Vamp have consistently produed a recognisable style of funky, futuristic dance music, and The MB Factor offers up their tracks remixed by the like of Prins Thomas and DJ Koze, as well as classic cuts and a couple of brand new peices. Morphine Machine exemplifies their new sound, all minimal clicks, synthesised vocals and space-age bass. It’s like Kraftwerk if they took pills instead of lounging around reading about robotics, and it seques beautifully into Prins Thomas’ cosmic disco reinterpretation of (She’s) Heavy Meta. By this point, we’re into pure dancefloor-melting madness with arms flailing, but the Brös reign it in again and offer a few more challenging pieces to bring the album to a close. [Liam Arnold]
