Maria McKee - Live Acoustic Tour 2006

Terrific, brilliant, excellent, marvellous and wonderful...

Album Review by Finbarr Bermingham | 13 Oct 2006
Album title: Live Acoustic Tour 2006
Artist: Maria McKee
Label: Cooking Vinyl
Maria McKee's (of Show Me Heaven fame) live LP is a collection of unpardonable cover versions and feeble originals that could only ever be substantiated by severe over production. Unfortunately for McKee, such luxuries aren't afforded on live releases. Played to an audience that seems to consist of her immediate family, 'Acoustic Tour 2006' is painful at best. As McKee dawdles through a set with a voice that could pierce ears, one finds oneself wondering who would buy this. Tracks that amble from bad to worse are disrupted with 'banter' that could only be described as horrible. Her heretical affirmation of this as roots rock is ludicrous and the true measure of this album is that as a means of escapology; Show Me Heaven would have been welcomed with open arms.
