Limozine - Evil Love

Album Review by Ryan Drever | 05 Apr 2010
Album title: Evil Love
Artist: Limozine
Label: Open Plan Records
Release date: 5 April

Evil Love is a spluttering tip of the cap to old school rock n' roll, which sees London-based quartet, Limozine dole out chunky three chord struts whilst doing their best to channel that same energy; sadly only just missing the mark. Vocalist Dean spits and splutters with undeniable attitude but you can't help but wonder what we would be left with without his manic warbling.

The band largely play it safe, taking somewhat polished-up potshots at the filthy crunch of the likes of Ramones, The Stones and perhaps most notably, The Stooges but consequently lack the Raw Power (ahem) in their delivery. However, tracks like El Presidente, Berlin and the short sharp blast of Good Cop Bad Cop are indications that the band do possess the same kind of brilliantly ramshackle urgency that has the potential to bore its way into your brain - just perhaps not all the time.
