Lethal Bizzle - Go Hard

Album Review by Euan Ferguson | 18 Sep 2009
Album title: Go Hard
Artist: Lethal Bizzle
Label: Search & Destroy
Release date: 5 Oct

Of all the artists who swapped dodgy deals for record deals and made the leap from grimy London streets to the charts, Lethal Bizzle is the one that retained an element of menace about him. Whether sparring with David Cameron or getting his records banned from clubs, Bizzle never had the number one crossover appeal demonstrated by the likes of Dizzee Rascal. On this though, his third album, he proves he can get a party started with the best of them, most evident in the relentless ravey synths of Going Out Tonight. He drafts in pals Gallows for Rockstar, a noisy riposte to disapproving purists who want their grime and punk kept apart, and keeps the ladies happy with the UK funky-flavoured So Addictive. Standout track is the frankly bizarre Skullz on My Hoodie, in which Bizzle tells us that as well as liking KFC and fish and chips, he’s a terminator, a power ranger and Obama. Righto.
